Nob Hill Gazette | Satellite Space in Barneys

"Rejoice! The iconic 1909 building that used to house Barney’s in downtown San Francisco is no longer empty — thanks to Christina Maybaum. “People feel a lot of nostalgia for the space,” she says. “Having our gallery in this space has really met a need in which people want in-person experiences in the downtown area.” Maybaum represents emerging and midcareer artists, and its 20,000-square-foot setting provides ample room for group shows. Maybaum’s original gallery, a 5-minute walk away on Geary, will now present solo-exhibition shows. In the new locale she hopes to host private events, is planning a robust schedule featuring large-scale pieces and is determined to help revitalize the area around Union Square. “I saw this as an opportunity to get more exposure for our roster of artists,” she says. The opening exhibition, which is on view by appointment only, features works by artists such as Sam PerryKate Nielsen and John Miranda."
