Karina Bania | The Language of Water

1 - 29 February 2024
Overview

In this latest body of work, The Language of Water, Bania is drawing from nature and the passage of time. Intentional pools and marks are placed across the canvas, but like all things in nature, the elements of wind and water shift the landscape in unexpected ways.

"Creating is a slow process. I spend a lot of time watching water dry. While painting, I'm surrounded by books and decade's worth of scribbled notes. I'm always searching to see how things connect. My paintings are compositions of ideas and notions of meaning. It's a visual language which is intentional on my part, but unexpected due to the materiality and randomness of nature. Painting for me is an act of refinement. It's an endless search for the quality and feeling that creation brings."
